Your Orientation
Resource Hub
Congratulations on taking the first step to improving your metabolic health and achieving lasting weight loss. Consider this page your one-stop-shop for everything you need to make the most out of the time between sign-up and your first coaching session (aka the official start of your Metabolic Reset). We call this Calibrate Orientation.
Your Orientation Checklist
We’ve designed this list to guide you through important actions you’ll need to take to ensure you, your coach, and your Medical Team have all the information needed to help you achieve real results through your Metabolic Reset.
Step 1
Complete Your App Onboarding
Estimated time: 1-3 weeks from sign-up
If you haven’t already, download the Calibrate app. You’ll get step-by-step instructions to set up your account, finish your Comprehensive Health Intake, request a lab order, and set up your Welcome Kit to record your baseline metrics. You won’t be able to schedule your doctor appointment until all of these steps are complete.
Step 2
Complete Lab Work
Estimated time: 1-2 weeks from sign-up
Your lab results will help you and your Calibrate Medical Team understand your current health, develop your personalized treatment plan, and follow your progress over time. We’ll send you a copy of your lab order via the Support Center 48 hours after you select your lab provider during app onboarding. It’s important that you make your lab work appointment as quickly as possible, as labs are required to be able to schedule your Calibrate doctor visit and get your GLP-1 prescription.
Step 3
Learn Program Basics
Estimated time: 1-2 weeks from sign-up
There is truly no other program that integrates targeted lifestyle change with GLP-1 medication like Calibrate—that’s why our members achieve better long-term results than those taking most medications alone. Your first two classes (Fundamentals and Method) will explain the ins and outs of your Reset—they also house your Calibrate Commitment, an overview of what you’ll need to commit to in order to sustain long-term weight loss (hint: it’s more than medication). Find them in the Curriculum tab of your Calibrate app.
Step 4
Prepare for Your Doctor Visit
Estimated time: 2-4 weeks from sign-up
Once your Medical Team reviews your lab work, you’ll be notified via push notification and email that you can schedule your 30-minute, 1:1 video doctor visit. That’s when you and your Calibrate doctor will review your Comprehensive Health Intake, lab results, and establish which GLP-1 medication is right for you. We cover more about what to expect during your doctor visit in our live Welcome to Calibrate event—which you can RSVP to here.
Step 5
Meet Your Accountability Coach
Estimated time: 1-2 weeks from doctor visit
Once you’ve completed your doctor visit, you’ll be able to schedule your first coaching session in the Calibrate app. Together, you and your coach will set goals, review progress from your daily tracking data, and establish your Why for joining Calibrate. There are a few *really* important things you’ll need to do before attending this first session, which we cover in this required video. Be sure to watch it a few days before you meet your coach.
Step 6
Start GLP-1 Medication
Estimated time: 6-8 weeks from doctor visit for individuals. For members who joined through an employer, consult in-app FAQs as wait times will vary by plan.
We know the waiting game can be hard, so we’ve put together this comprehensive guide to help you understand the ins and outs of getting started with medication at Calibrate. If you have questions along the way, send a question via the Support Center in your Calibrate app. While the approval process can take time, actively participating in coaching and habit change before you start medication will start to change your biology.
Four Pillars of Metabolic Health
We’ve designed Calibrate to help you achieve small (and big!) wins across four key areas of metabolic health. We call these the Four Pillars of Metabolic Health, and when you click on each of them below, you’ll learn what to expect across the program and have access to support along the way.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
During your doctor appointment, your Calibrate doctor will review your lab results and health history, and use this information to make recommendations for your treatment plan—tailored to you.
You should receive a lab order via the Support Center in your Calibrate app within 48 hours of requesting labs. If we do not receive the necessary insurance information during account set up, we’ll contact you via the Support Center to obtain the necessary insurance details before ordering your labs.
Labs are not included in the cost of your Metabolic Reset. Your Calibrate Team helps navigate your commercial insurance to get your labs covered, but coverage is not guaranteed. Read more about labs coverage here.
Prior to your Calibrate doctor visit, our Medical Team requires you to complete lab work to better inform your medical care.
The lab requirements are as follows:
Within 3 months prior to your doctor visit:
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Within 6 months prior to your doctor visit:
- Hemoglobin A1c
- Lipid Panel
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
In addition, we recommend a fasting insulin test and a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) test (also within 6 months prior to your doctor visit), but this isn’t required.
If Calibrate generates the lab order, the required labs as well as a fasting insulin test and a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) test will automatically be included in your lab request.
If you plan to upload your own labs, be sure they meet the full list of requirements above. If you are missing any required labs from this list, you will need to visit a lab to have them drawn before you can schedule your appointment with a Calibrate doctor. Please do not visit a lab without getting a lab order from Calibrate. You can request a new lab order by messaging us via the Support Center in your Calibrate app.
To ensure proper medical identification, please make sure your labs contain your full name and date of birth. Also, make sure the date of collection is on the pages of your results so we can validate when you got the labs done.
Our Medical Team prescribes medication based on up-to-date health information to protect your health and safety.
Both appointments can be scheduled through your Calibrate app, but only after you’ve completed certain Orientation steps.
To schedule your video doctor visit, you’ll need to set up your account in the Calibrate app, finish your Comprehensive Health Intake, complete your lab work, have a Calibrate doctor review your lab work, and set up your Welcome Kit to record your baseline metrics. After these steps are complete, you’ll receive a push notification and an email with instructions about how to schedule your doctor appointment.
To schedule your first coaching session, you’ll need to have attended your video doctor visit. Once your visit takes place, you’ll receive a push notification and an email with instructions about how to schedule your first coaching session.
For your 30-minute, 1:1 video visit with your Calibrate doctor, you must:
- Complete all your required labs five business days before your appointment
- Physically be in the primary state of residence you selected when you signed up for Calibrate
- Be in a quiet and private place, without distractions (no driving, please!), in order to discuss personal details about your health
If you’re unable to meet any of these requirements, you must reschedule your video visit. Log into your Calibrate app, tap the Visits tab, and select your doctor visit to reschedule. Please know that if you request to change or cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment, you may not be able to reschedule for up to two weeks, which will delay the start of your program accordingly. You will also be unable to schedule your first coaching session until you attend your first doctor appointment.
If you’ve changed your state of residence for 30 consecutive days or more, please also let us know via the Support Center so we can update your information. We may need to reschedule your doctor appointment with another provider in your new state.
During your appointment, you’ll discuss your health history, lab results, and learn more about the GLP-1 medications that are clinically appropriate for you and covered by your insurance. Your Calibrate doctor will also discuss how GLP-1 medications are most effective when you have the support of your Calibrate coach, Medical Team, and Calibrate Community. Your Medical Team will work with you to adjust medication as needed, in order to find the right tapering timeline. The lifestyle tweaks you’ll make, and the tools you’ll learn from Calibrate, are the key to sustaining your success long-term.
If you are enrolled in Calibrate through your employer, your medication approval timeline may differ. Please see the FAQs in your Support Center via the Calibrate app for information specific to your program.
Starting any new medication can be complicated and intimidating. At Calibrate, we use a team-based approach to navigate the prescription process and reduce or eliminate any barriers, providing as smooth a transition as possible onto your GLP-1s/combined GLP-1s. See our Getting Your Medication Guide for a detailed explanation of the prescription process.
GLP-1 approval can vary by insurance company and individual plan. Our team will help navigate the insurance process for you to find you a GLP-1 covered at $25 per month or less after any deductible has been met. It’s not uncommon to receive a few denial letters from your insurance during this time. It typically takes eight weeks to get a GLP-1 covered by insurance, but may take up to 90 days depending on the complexity of the case. You'll receive an email from Calibrate once we have a final determination of your GLP-1 coverage. Don't worry if you get an initial denial from your insurance: our Benefits Verification Specialistsis working behind the scenes to submit multiple PAs on your behalf. If you are ultimately not eligible for any GLP-1 medications, we'll reach out in the Support Channel to let you know and offer you an option to continue in the program without a GLP-1 or receive a pro-rated refund.
Your Welcome Kit will be delivered within two to three weeks after you sign up. You’ll receive a tracking number and details via email a few days after your sign-up is complete.
Please follow the instructions in the Getting Started With Your Withings Scale Guide.
You can download the Calibrate app on the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).
You can find detailed setup instructions in the following guides:
Please note:
- Check that you have Apple Health downloaded on your iPhone, or Google Fit downloaded on your Android phone. You’ll want to sync and share data directly between Apple Health or Google Fit and your Calibrate app.
- Turn on push notifications to allow the Calibrate app to notify you with reminders to track your daily metrics, alerts, and messages from our Medical, Support, and Coaching team:
—Log into your Calibrate app
—Tap the Profile tab
—Select Notifications
—Toggle on Push Notifications
—You will be prompted with a pop-up screen to opt-in to push notifications in your phone settings - Follow the instructions in the Getting Started with Calibrate Guide to set up your Withings smart scale.
- After you download and log into the Calibrate app, you’ll find on-screen instructions explaining how to measure and enter each baseline metric. You can also find detailed instructions in the Waist Measurement Guide.
Tracking is an important part of your Metabolic Reset because we believe that what you can measure, you can change. What you track becomes the data that your Medical Team uses to adjust your medication and the inputs that you and your Coach use to personalize your goals.
At the beginning of your Metabolic Reset—from the moment you log into your app—you’ll have two required trackers: your weight tracker and energy level tracker, which can be found on the home screen. You’ll also see additional sleep and step trackers. As you progress further into your Reset, these trackers will then become required. You’ll also see a final tracker, your red foods tracker, in your Level 1 Food class.
Check out our How and Why We Track Guide to learn more about how trackers can support your progress. You’ll also be able to discuss these trackers with your coach in your 1:1 sessions.
